In Tulsa, we have 70-some plus employees, and the majority are in the warehouse. At the end of the day, that’s the manpower that we need. And, if we really look at our turnover, it’s warehouse turnover.

Our mission is to make it a fun place to work. Right now it’s 100 degrees, and the warehouse is hot. We’re just try to think of different things to keep people wanting to work here. The challenge kind of really worked for us.

We got medals that we’re going to engrave, and we gave away $300 to the highest (most active) people.

I made all the team names, and I told everyone they had to join. We wanted teams of three, but we didn’t care who teamed up. People cared about their team.

My team was ExpressSteppers. I live in Edmund, OK, and my two teammates live in Oklahoma City and Wichita. We don’t see each other, but we had our own banter back and forth. At our organization, if you expect this stuff from your employees, you got to participate. We know that if we want a better work environment, it starts with us.

We’re probably going to do this again next year.
