SEI: A winning collaboration!

SEI: A winning collaboration!

Founded in 1992, SEI is a US management consulting firm with a network of locally-owned hubs across the country. In recent years, the firm has consistently appeared on the regional Inc 5000 lists of fastest growing American companies, while also topping lists of the best places to work. In 2025, it’s wellness program, SEIze the Day, earned the Well Workplace Gold award from the Wellnesss Alliance. To help build and manage its wellness program, SEI partnered with Excellence Wellness Solutions, who, in turn, brought in Count. It to run their monthly challenge series. We caught up with Julie Jones, Co-Owner of Excellence Wellness Solutions, to learn more about the overall program.

What are the various parts of the SEI wellness program?

The SEIze The Day Wellness program was custom-built for SEI! We developed an internal platform that serves as a one-stop-shop for all things wellness at SEI.  Here employees and their spouses or domestic partners can find information and resources supporting each of the pillars of wellness. We also provide 1:1 sessions, wellness workshops, custom challenges, monthly Move & Learn and Mindfulness sessions, and more! The resources, programs and incentives available are robust.

How is the engagement?

The level of participation and engagement blows anything that I’ve seen out of the water. The company culture that SEI has built, along with the intentionality in the build-out and roll out of the program, have had a direct influence on the engagement we get in the SEIze The Day Wellness program.

What’s their secret?

Leadership support makes a huge difference. For SEI, we started by introducing wellness, and the business case to support it, to their leadership team. Having supportive stakeholders among our internal contacts, people who were invested in the process has had a direct influence on our success.  It allowed us to be a true collaborator and partner.

Do you think bringing in an outside wellness expert/agency is required for most companies?

It depends on the internal resources and the breadth and depth of the program. We actually have companies that still bring us in, even though they employ a full time wellness specialist.

One of the reasons that we’re very good at what we do, is that we do it 100% of the time! Our team is not trying to squeeze wellness in among 1,000,000 other responsibilities. We are fully focused and committed to providing expertise and excellence in every program we provide.

How are you using Count.It?

We connected with Count. It as a way to reward program participants for the activities and healthy habits that are already a part of their routine and to encourage and reward people for being more active and more mindful.

What is the SEI 5K initiative?

Each year, SEI’ers across the country have the opportunity to “Move Forward to Give Back” in their local communities.  Each office chooses a 5k race to support an organization that makes a meaningful impact locally. We manage the program, provide the training resources and team shirts for all participants. We even do a slogan contest.  It’s a lot of fun!

[EDITORS NOTE: This looks cool, and fun!]

What’s on your wishlist?

Finding ways to make the customization that makes our programs unique and meaningful easier. This is now a part of every conversation: How do we make this process easier for participants; and how do make it move faster — from a systems standpoint.
