Top 10 New Challenge App Features

A new Count. It group homepage, and a thumbnail of the new automated route map feature.
Route maps and glow-ups forev!

And, just like that, STEPtember is over. Co-workers at companies far and wide can take a breath. Count. It welcomed more new users for September challenges this year than in any other month since we launched our new app in 2023.

The new clients have kept us busy — so busy that I'm WAY behind in announcing the cool things we've released in recent months. Without further ado, please read on for the Top 10 new features dropped by Count. It in the Summer (ish) of 2026.

Oh yeah, and hello WALKtober! ;-)

  1. User-generated teams. Let them organize themselves! Admins can now allow users to form their own teams. Team creators are now "Captains," and they can add their own team images. Go team!
  2. Route maps. Challenge newsfeeds just got quite a bit more interesting as Count. It now auto-generates route maps for our walkers, runners, bikers, and others. As one person said, Count. It is now "Strava for companies."
  3. New group homepage. Some companies run multiple challenges at the same time. They may have recurring monthly wellness "clubs," office-specific challenges, and big seasonal all-hands productions. With more than one live challenge, admins wanted to better organize their homepage and promote the "main events." In solving that problem, we might have gotten carried away and given the whole group homepage a big glow-up. (Launching tonight!)
  4. @mentions. Social feeds are way more fun when they're, uh, social! Count. It challengers can now cheer on their friends by name, or call out their rivals.
  5. Pace, not points. When checking out a co-worker's morning run, it turns out people are more interested in the pace than the points earned. Count. It now puts pace, distance, and elevation gain front and center for relevant activities, and we have also added calorie burn to the logs for all activities.
  6. Onboarding 2.0. When you launch a challenge, you want your participants to be warmly greeted at the front door and given clear instructions. We nailed it.
  7. Challenges get hype videos. Every challenge deserves its own comms campaign, and every comms campaign can use a fun hype video. Admins, get your challenge reels rolling!
  8. Default leaderboard. Count. It offers two main kinds of leaderboards — Total Points and Consistency — and each focuses challengers on a different aspect of their goals. Admins can now set which leaderboard appears by default.
  9. Points cap. Admins have long requested the ability to limit how many points their challengers can earn in a given day. Call it a game mechanic that promotes more cohesion and less dissension. They asked, we delivered.
  10. Deep links. Sometimes a person wants to share a link to their impressive activity log, or an admin wants to link to their challenge in a corporate email or Slack message. Good news: Every Count. It app screen is now deep-linkable. Share away!

There you have it! The latest from the greatest social challenge platform in history. If you've got a cool Count. It app feature burning a hole in your pocket (or phone), don't be a stranger: Email us!
